SUMMARY

1. PARASYMPATHETIC: pre-ganglionic fibres relay in the ganglion from the suprior salivatory nucleus.

2. SYMPATHETIC: post-ganglionic fibres pass through the ganglion without relay from the superior cervical ganglion.

3. SENSORY: general & taste fibres from the anterior 2/3 of the tongue pass through the ganglion without relay to the trigeminal nucleus.
