SPINE-INTERVERTEBRAL FORAMEN

SUMMARY

1. Produced between adjacent pedicles which form the upper and lower boundaries of each foramen

2. In the thoracic & lumbar spines, it is bounded anteriorly by the lower part of the adjacent vertebra & intervertebral disc, posteriorly by the facet & facet joint capsule

3. The intervertebral foramina lodge the spinal nerve roots, dorsal root ganglia, spinal arteries, veins, recurrent meningeal nerve, fat & lymphatics.
