SUMMARY

1. Triangular transverse processes (TP) acts as attachments for the iliolumbar ligament & quadratus lumborum

2. The TP arises from the body: the most salient feature of L5

3. The inferior articular facet faces forwards to lock with the superior articular facet of S1 vertebra to prevent antrolisthesis

4. May be fused on either side with the S1 → sacralization of the L5 vertebra
