SUMMARY
1. Superior division: passes onto the orbital surface of the superior rectus 1/3 of the way along
- It then passes onto the levator palpebrae superioris → to which it supplies sympathetic fibers
2. Inferior division
- Inferior rectus: passes along the orbital surface to enter 1/3 of the way along
- Inferior oblique: passes along the orbital surface to enter 1/3 of the way along, the parasympathetic fibers from the Edinger Westphal nucleus lie in the proximal part of this branch and leave it to enter the ciliary ganglion
