SUMMARY

BINDING TO TYPE I RECEPTORS
1. Vasoconstriction of efferent and afferent glomerular arterioles and interlobular artery ⟹ reduction in renal blood flow ⟹ elevation in hydraulic pressure in glomerular capillary ⟹ maintain GFR when RAS is activated by fall in systemic BP.

2. Inflammatory mediator: proinflammatory effect on leukocytes, endothelial cells and vascular smooth-muscle cells.

3. Proliferation of vascular smooth-muscle cells that can potentially increase atherogenesis.

BINDING TO TYPE II RECEPTORS
4. Counteract the classical actions: vasodilation and natriuresis, protects against target-organ damage and HTN.
