SUMMARY

1. Blood vessels are innervated by the sympathetic (SNS) but not parasympathetic system (PNS).

2. All blood vessels except capillaries & venules contain smooth muscles innervated by SNS.

3. Exceptions with dual innervation: arteries of erectile tissue, uterine, facial, salivary glands.

4. Innervation of most veins is sparse except the splanchnic vessels.
