DIABETES INSIPIDUS
SUMMARY
1. Diabetes insipidus (DI) can be neurogenic (decreased ADH production) or nephrogenic (decreased ADH effect on the kidneys).
2. Both can be genetic, acquired or mixed.
3. Primary polydipsia mimics DI. The water deprivation test helps to differentiate between 01 and psychogenic polydipsia.
