SUMMARY

Water depravation with hourly serum ADH, plasma & urine osmolality measurements:

1. f(plasma osm) = plasma ADH, where if ADH fails to increase despite serum osm increasing is diagnostic for neurogenic DI.

2. f(plasma ADH) = urine osm, where if osm fails to increase despite ADH increasing is diagnostic for nephrogenic DI.
