1. Re-entry: require abnormal tissue & something to trigger a conduction block; occurs in WPW, SVT, VT


2. Abnormal focal activity: abnormal automaticity (occurs in ventricular, atrial ectopics) vs. triggered activity (early vs. late after-depolarization; occurs in Torsades, long-QT syndrome, etc)
