SUMMARY

RISK-FACTOR MANAGEMENT
1. Diet: decrease saturated fats < 7% of total caloric intake; eliminate trans-fats; limit cholesterol intake < 200mg/day.

2. Exercise: 30-60min moderate-intensity aerobic exercise, 5-7 days/week.
3. Step-wise strategy in smoking cessation, avoid passive smoking.
4. Weight-loss.
5. BP < 140/90mmHg.

6. Annual influenza vaccine.

MEDICAL MANAGEMENT
7. Anti-platelet therapy: aspirin (clopidogrel if aspirin is contraindicated).
8. High-dose statin.
9. Beta-blockers (if LVEF < 40% or prior MI). Use Carvedilol, Metoprolol, Bisoprolol. CI in bradycardia, hypotension, 2/3o AV block, pulmonary oedema, acute HF, asthma.
10. ACE inhibitors (if LVEF < 40%, DM, HTN, or CKD).
