SUMMARY
1. Factors in the history - quality of pain (dull, sharp, throbbing, and constant), location, duration, exacerbating or ameliorating factors, and associated symptoms.
2. Also important are the mode of onset of pain and variation over time.
3. According to the International Classification of Headache Disorders 3rd edition (2013) published by the International Headache Society, headaches can be classified as primary or secondary.
