SUMMARY

1. Consider non-pharmacologic management first. Consult the Dementia Behaviour Management Service (DBMAS).

2. Basic principals: modify environment, modify communication, maintain safety, meaningful activities.

3. Evidence for the following: behavior management, implementation of activities, music therapy, sensory interventions (massage), person-centred communication skills training for caregivers, pet therapy, exercise, aromatherapy, sleep hygiene[1]
