SUMMARY

1. Arises from a 5cm length of the external lip of the iliac crest b/w the ASIS + iliac tubercle.
2. Inserts into the iliotibial tract.
3. Supplied by the superior gluteal nerve.
4. Assists the gluteus maximus in extending the knee joint.
