FIBROMYALGIA-ACR CRITERIA

SUMMARY

American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Criteria:
1. Widespread pain: found in all four quadrants of the body; the left and right sides of the body as well as above and below the waist.

2. Axial involvement: cervical, anterior chest, thoracic, and low back.

3. No other medical disorders to explain the pain.

4. Bilateral involvement: occipital, lower cervical, trapezius, supraspinatus, second rib, lateral epicondyle, gluteal, greater trochanter, knee.

5. Pain in 11 to 18 tender points (no longer part of criteria, but helpful).
