Various systems have been proposed to help assess stability and/or guide management:
1. A descriptive system by Allen, et al is based on the mechanism of injury

2. Attempts at quantifying biomechanical stability include the White and Panjabi system
3. Recently proposed sub axial injury classification (SLIC)
4. Measurements for spine injuries are based on methods outlined by Bono et al
