1. No depolarisations are conducted through the AV node.
2. AV dissociation: the P waves and QRS complexes are independent rhythms.
3. If QRS < 100 ms: there is a junctional ectopic pacemaker.
4. This is dangerous and may progress to ventricular stand-still.
