SUMMARY

1. Most intramedullary spinal tumours enhance with gadolinium contrast, although some intramedullary astrocytomas do not enhance.

2. Metastatic tumours can show a very focal enlargement of the cord as opposed to the more diffuse enlargement with primary gliomas.
