Dr Appukutty Manickam
MBBS, MRCS (Ed), M. Med (Surgery), FAFRM (RACP)
Clinical Statement
Dr Manickam's interests are in managing acute stroke, stroke & spinal injury rehabilitation, pain management, movement disorders and the applications of artificial intelligence in medicine.
He tailored his education towards this, having completed Rehabilitation Medicine training, radiology anatomy and physics courses, surgical and critical care courses. He worked in neurosurgery and ICU for 6 years, published in various neurology & neurosurgical journals and presented in neurosurgical & radiology conferences.
He completed his Rehabilitation Medicine Fellowship in August 2022, concurrently commenced Basic Physician Training in August 2021 at the Liverpool Hospital (Sydney) and Pain Medicine Training in November 2022 at the Prince of Wales Hospital (Sydney). Dr Manickam currently divides his time between physician training, pain medicine training and being a part-time Rehabilitation Staff Specialist at the Spinal Injuries Unit, Prince of Wales Hospital. He also organizes the Australian Rehabilitation College Faculty training program for NSW.
