2. 4 layers: (1) palmar aponeurosis; (2) thenar eminence, hypothenar eminence, long flexors of the hand; (3) thumb adductor; (4) interossi attached to metacarpals

3. Long flexors ⟹ power grip

4. Small muscles ⟹ fine, skilled movements
