SUMMARY
1. Umbrella term for motor dysfunction that does not stem from weakness.
2. Causes: decreased dexterity from corticospinal tract involvement, sensory proprioceptive deficits, apraxia, ataxia.
3. Tremors are common in MS.
MANAGEMENT
4. Weighted cuffs to dampen tremor.
5. Visualising activity with a mirror and other sensory cues.
6. Frenkel's exercises: require high degree of concentration and frequent repetition.
7. Carbamazepine, propanolol, isoniazid, gabapentin for tremors.
8. Stereotactic ventrolateral thalamotomy for tremors.
