SUMMARY

Loss of renal function that results in:
1. Retention of waste products: reflected by urea levels
2. Dysregulation of extracellular fluid: usually volume overload
3. Dysregulation of electrolytes: usually potassium
4. Dysregulation of acid/base balance: usually acidosis
