SUMMARY
1. Residual volume (RV): unused space
2. Expiratory reserve volume (ERV): from full unforced end-expiration to full forced end-expiration
3. Tidal volume (TV): volume used in normal unforced ventilation; 6-7 mL per ideal body weight
4. Inspiratory reserve volume (IRV): normal unforced end-inspiration to max end-inspiration
MISC
5. Minute Ventilation (MV) = TV * frequency of respiration
6. Functional Residual Capacity (FCR): volume that remains at the end of a breath (increased in emphysema, decreased in interstitial diseases)
7. Compliance: change in volume/change in pressure
8. Resistance: change in pressure/change in flow
