SUMMARY
1. Class III anti-arrhythmic agent that prolongs conduction through atrial, nodal, ventricular tissue.
2. Reduces the frequency of stimuli reaching the ventricle without causing negative inotropic effects, increases coronary blood flow.
3. Indications: AF, atrial flutter, SVT, conscious VT, VT/VF refractory to defibrillation, prophylaxis for VT/VF.
4. SE: hypotension, bradycardia, heart block, thrombophlebitis. Common long-term SE: hypothyroidism.
DOSAGE
5. Give 300-450 mg every third DC shock.
