SUMMARY

1. The body (kidney shaped) is the same size or smaller than the foramen.

2. On each side it is projected up into a postero-lateral lip, the uncus.

3. The uncovertebral joints are part of the morphological neural arch.

4. The large C6 anterior tubercle is the carotid tubercle (of Chassaignac) because the CCA can be compressed against it.

5. The spinous process is bifid & excavated inferiorly for the attachment of the semispinalis cervices.
