SUMMARY

1. The basivertebral foramina are wider apart in the cervical than the thoracic or lumbar vertebrae.

2. The intervertebral foramina are bounded anteriorly by: both cervical vertebra, uncovertebral joint & disc.

3. The vertebral artery (VA) passes through the foramen transversarium & dorsal root ganglion (DRG) lies behind it.

4. The vertebral foramen is triangular in cross-section.
