SUMMARY
Diagnosis of hand OA: pain in the hands with 3 of the following clinical criteria (sensitivity 94%; specificity 87%):
1. Bony enlargement of ≥ 2: DIPs/PIPs of 2nd, 3rd fingers and 1st, CMCJ
2. Bony enlargement of > 2 DIPs
3. Fewer than 3 MCP swellings
4. Deformity of 1 of the 10 DIPs/PIPs
