SUMMARY

Physical therapy encompasses a graduated mobility program which includes:1. Maintenance of the patient’s posture & alignment
2. Maintaining joint range of motion (passive, active, active assisted)
3. Providing ankle foot orthosis to prevent plantar contractures
4. Improving endurance (repetitive exercises with low resistance)
5. Strengthening different muscle groups
6. Improving flexibility with a progressive ambulation program that commences with bed mobility techniques & the use of a wheelchair: to patients walking using adaptive gait aids (frames, crutches)
